Child Counselling

Each child has their own unique set of factors that provide resiliency as well as others that create challenges. My job is to understand all of these as well as underlying factors causing difficulty.

We will work as a team through individual support with the child, as well as counselling for the parenting team to address strategies and environmental shifts.

Family Counselling

Family counselling aims to support family systems, no matter what the make-up.

Whether family members are biological, adopted, blended, step-related or any combination of the above, there are always ways to improve current dynamics. Family counselling also describes psychological care that supports children who are sharing time between two families, whether parents are experiencing high-conflict, low-conflict or getting along well.

This type of therapy is comprised of “puzzle pieces” including individual support, parenting support and/or family counselling, depending on unique needs and desires of the family unit.

Individual Adult Counselling

Founded in relationship and trust, these sessions involve a semi-structured journey involving working towards goals, addressing current stressors and identifying patterns of behaviour. The client is the ultimate driver of this path, and my job is to mirror what I observe, to offer opportunities for reflection and perspective-taking and to monitor progress.

As I’ve heard one too many times in my own home with my own littles - “there’s no job too big and no pup too small”. I have a network of professional colleagues in the community that I am able to refer to and would be pleased to provide community programs, ideas, and other supports available, as suitable. I’m a firm believer in community and am here to help.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and

8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy - Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika - the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T'ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside, work, or are visiting on.
